Insane Asylum Collegno

Insane Asylum Collegno

The Criminal Pavilion

Started from the buildings of the old Chartreuse of Collegno, in the years of greatest expansion the Regio Manicomio was composed by twenty tents, including the Criminal one shown in these photos, to that time surrounded by a tall wall (see old photo on right). Under the long porticos, a small railway called Decauville was connecting among them the principal pavilions.

... Thrown down the wall that surrounded it, now the Criminal Pavilion seems to be lost in the wide Park of Collegno. But is just an illusion of freedom...

... because every window is blocked from grilles, every door blinded up.

Once the obsessive diktat was to prevent whoever to go out; at the exact opposite, now it's to prevent from entering....

We walk around, but everything seems to be closed... Neighter the intrusive ivy , here, try to enter inside.

... but... Hey! Look there! Someone has opened a passage. A vagabond, or perhaps - who knows - a nostalgic crazy person...

Ok.. ok : not even we are completely normal... In fact: with no hesitations we jump inside...

... A jump is enough to end inside the districts of madness...

... Even the light has some uncertainty in entering here...

... A jacket?... ... Hei!... Who's there?!...

... Nobody answer... Just the emptiness of these corridors look at our steps, completely impassive...

... Already the desire of came out grows up...

... we remember same old photos of the Insane Asylum. It's too easy, here, to recognize in those perspective...

... the tightened cells of the Criminal Pavilion...

... children of a smaller god that only sometimes, lost in thought , remembers you ...
